Emergency Lockdown training from Santa Clara County Sheriff

On Oct 17, 2014, our school board members received an Emergency Lockdown training from Santa Clara County Sheriff Department. Officer Baker detailed the Run-Hide-Fight strategy in an emergency lockdown situation.

Depending on the situation, the Run approach may be the best way to escape from the source of disturbances. As our teachings are held mostly indoors in a classroom setting, Hide approach would typically be used. Every Homestead High classroom is equipped with a 5 foot length 2-by-4 lumber which can be used to block the door. The Fight approach is really the last resort to incapacitate the shooter to survive and protect others from harm.

The information and training material will be passed on to all our teachers. If you have specific suggestions, please feel free to contact our Principal.
