Congratulations to 譚凱穎 Monica Tam! Four times in a row!

Congratulations again to our student, Monica Tam 譚凱穎, on winning the Honorable Mention award in the ANCCS Year of the Goat Poster Design Contest High School Category!

It really has become an annual tradition for Monica who had won an award on the poster design since the Year of the Dragon, the Year of the Snake, the Year of the Horse, and this Year of the Goat. This year is especially tough for her because she had advanced to a higher category and was competing with 14 other designs.

Here is Monica receiving the award from ANCCS:

Keep up the good work, Monica!
The Year of the Monkey is waiting for you.

Thank you to the generous gifts. Keep them coming!

Many thanks to the personal donations from wvcls parents and their companies’ matching donations.

In the past couple of weeks, we received a $1000 personal donation from a parent and another $1000 matching donation from the company, HP. We also received donations from multiple parents and the matching donations from Google, totaling $1000.

All the gifts will be used to balance our budget, support our activities such as Chinese New Year, and enable us to develop new curriculum like AP class.

On behalf of the school, we want to thank the parents and all the companies for their generous gift. As always, all donations are federal tax deductible. More details are here.

THANK YOU!

Jan 23, Review meeting on Scholarship Program & Upper Grade Curriculum

We made good progress on both fronts and would like to share with parents a progress update as well as to gather feedback. The review meeting will be held in room B108 from 7:15 to 9pm. Light refreshment will be served.

In a constant effort to help our students to be more successful in learning the Chinese language, we have been actively researching and preparing a Scholarship Program and a new AP Class offering. The Scholarship Program is an award for distinguished WVCLS students to cover part of their expenses attending a college, while the AP Class offering is to help WVCLS students planning to take Chinese AP test in their high school.

Please feel free to bring any questions, comments, suggestions that you may have on any of the above topics.

Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!

It was so much excitement in the Christmas Party. We all had a happy and fun time posting with Santa Claus, taking the nice customizable picture, and checking twice our raffle tickets.

Santa Claus was so tired. He had to sit down to draw the winning numbers from the box. Principal Sandy shouted out at the top of her voice while PTA Co-Director Kelvin held up the board with the numbers written by his daughter. All in all it was a great fund-raising event to close out 2014, enjoy the holidays, and get ready for the new 2015.

Many thanks to our official photographer Vice Principal Amy’s husband:
and postings with Santa Claus!

Class photo with Santa Claus on Dec 19, plus customizable individual photo shoots.

Right after taking class photos with Santa, we will start the fundraising photo shoots at 8:15pm.

A professional photographer will take a high resolution digital picture of your child/family/friends and send it to your email address. There will be two choices for the setting. One is a picture with Santa. Another one is a green screen background with Special Effects. Please sign up at the office and donate $5/photo to the school.
